Congratulations to this year's Academic Challenge winner, Firestone High School!
On Saturday, June 9, students from Beachwood, Firestone and Hawken high schools went head-to-head in the 2011-2012 Academic Challenge championship finale. The 2011-2012 season lasted six months, with close to 80 Northern Ohio teams competing.
Firestone finished out the game with a total of 570 points. This was the high school's second time in the top ten, and first time in the Academic Challenge championship.
Bijan Pakdel (Captain), Sterling Shriber II and Katie Gilbert represented the Firestone High School team, with Alison Seefeldt as the adviser.
Westfield Insurance presented the team with a grant for $6,000 for their first-place triumph. Beachwood and Hawken also received grant money for their second and third place finishes. Visit the News Channel 5 website for more details on the victory!
