Once again, the Lower Great Lakes chapter of the National Academy of Television of Arts & Sciences (NATAS-LGL) has recognized "Academic Challenge" and its team with two Emmy nominations and wins. The awards ceremony was held in Cleveland, Ohio on June 19, 2011.
“Academic Challenge,” a high school version of quizbowl, won “Best Teen Program/Special (13 and up),” and the show's producer and director, Steve Kurrent, took home the award for “Best Director – Live to Tape.”
Since its return to television in 2003, "Academic Challenge" has received 14 nominations and 12 Emmy Awards, which includes those from last night.
In addition, the "Brain Game" was recognized in both Ohio and Indiana, and both received Lower Great Lakes Regional Emmy nominations this year in the Children/Youth/Teens category. "Brain Game" has received four Emmy nominations in the past.
Westfield Insurance is a proud sponsor of both shows, and thanks the staff and viewers for their support.
